No more key management means lower costs for Karaten Bygg
Karaten Bygg, headed by Site Manager Daniel Järkvist, used AddMobile’s Smartlock on a renovation project in Gothenburg for a more secure, smoother workday.
Karaten Bygg is a construction firm of around 300 co-workers, which performs construction and contracting jobs. One of their projects, in which AddMobile’s Smartlock was installed, concerned the renovation of 480 flats with tenants.
In a project of this size involving a large number of on-site residents, it’s important that the solution actually works. Since Karaten Bygg was already a satisfied customer of AddMobile’s solution for time reporting, an extension of cooperation was a natural and risk-free way to go.
“When we don’t have to manage keys, we don’t have to worry about forgetting or losing them. We also no longer have to worry about having to change a lock due to a lost or misplaced key. This reduces costs even more.”

During the project, Smartlocks were mounted with a card reader on the outside of the flats front doors and with a digital lock on the inside. Tenants continued to use existing locks as normal under the entire process. Karaten Bygg’s co-workers, however, used their ID06 cards (ID cards) as keys. This solution eliminates all key management and associated risks.
– When we don’t have to manage keys, we don’t have to worry about forgetting or losing them. We also no longer have to worry about having to change a lock due to a lost or misplaced key. This reduces costs even more, says Daniel Järkvist, Site Manager at Karaten Bygg.
Daniel sees many advantages with the solution. The hardware is simple to install and uninstall when it needs to be moved from one door to another, and it doesn’t damage the door. It’s also simple to grant permission to those who are allowed to enter the flats and when. This can be done both from office computers and on site using the card readers.
– Knowing who’s been inside the flats and when, makes things more secure both for me and our subcontractors. Knowing the hours during which we have access also increases the security of both the tenants and landlords. Simply put, it’s a favourable solution for everyone involved, says Daniel Järkvist.
